How Chord Grid works

Toolbar

Songs
The song library: course songs and your own songs (kept in this browser). Search, start a New song, or log in as a teacher.
Diagrams
Chord shapes under the bars: Off, the first time each chord appears, or under every bar.
Editor
Opens the ChordPro text the chart is drawn from.
Play-along
Shows or hides the play-along panel.
Print
Prints the chart or saves it as a PDF. Sections are not split across pages.

The chart

Bars
Four bars a line. Small dots under a bar are its beats; a chord lasts until the next one. 𝄎 repeats the previous bar.
Repeats
Repeat signs and 1. / 2. endings are played in order; the play-along follows them for you.
Diagrams
Strings low E to high e, left to right. ● finger, × don't play, ○ open string, a number on the left is the starting fret, a long bar is a barre.
Chord popup
Hover a chord or diagram (tap on a phone). Browse other shapes with ‹ ›, Pin one for this song, or copy and edit it as your own {define}.
Jump
While playing along, click a bar to jump there. The current bar is outlined and its chord turns blue.

Play-along

YouTube
Plays the song's video and follows it bar by bar. You can also load your own audio or video file.
Metronome
Plays the chart at the song's tempo after a one-bar count-in. − / + change the tempo by 5 (or type it), Default goes back to the song's tempo. Set the volume, and click on the first beat only or on every beat.
Auto scroll
Scrolls the chart to keep the current bar in view. Turn it off to look around the song while it plays.
Keys
Space play / pause, ← → previous / next chord change.
Neck
The chord to play now in black with finger numbers, nut on the left, high e on top. The next chord shows in light blue so you can get ready; a note both chords share shows as the current chord.

Editor

Text
The chart is written as ChordPro text and redrawn as you type: | A-7 . | F9 E7#9 |. The Syntax section lists everything.

The buttons above the text insert hard-to-type characters and barlines at the cursor.
Anchor a bar
Lines the chart up with the video: pause on the first beat of a bar, press Anchor a bar, click that bar.
Copy ChordPro
Copies the whole song text.
Saving
My songs save themselves in this browser; Download .txt keeps a copy. Course songs are read-only: Copy to My songs makes your own version. Teachers can Save, Publish and Delete.

Drag the line between the editor and the chart.
